Serena Williams conquered 2016 as the Wimbledon tennis champion and kept on conquering as her recent engagement to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian was announced…through Reddit!
Fianceé, Alexis Ohanian, swept the iconic tennis champion into the romance of Rome, Italy where he set a table in the location of their first meeting and took William’s back in time to the beginning of their love story.
The tennis star took the time to conduct a love poem about the events that led up to Alexis Ohanian’s romantic proposal in Rome from the table where they first met and wrote:
“I came home
A little late
Someone had a bag packed for me
And a carriage awaited
Destination: Rome
To escort me to my very own “charming”
Back to where our stars first collided
And now it was full circle
At the same table we first met by chance
This time he made it not by chance

Williams used her fianceé’s site’s forum called r/isaidyes to announce their perfect engagement alongside many other users who use this forum to share thir own engagement stories with the Reddit community.
The tennis champion and Reddit cofounder wanted to keep their relatioinship along with their engagement private but left subtle hints through their social media accounts, William’s agent Jill Smoller, and more close friends.
Williams topped off her perfect love poem with a cute little cartoon of the two. Williams as a tennis star dressed in a white and pink tennis combo and Ohanian wearing a black T-shirt with the reddit logo.

The caption “Future Mrs. Kn0thing” may be confusing to some, but “kn0thing” is in face the twitter and Reddit handle of Williams’s fianceé, Alexis Ohanian.
The two lovebirds are excited to take the leap into the new year and the wedding details have yet to be shared with the Tennis and Reddit community.
